Common questions about spandex (elastane)
Spandex vs elastane: is there a difference?
No. Spandex and elastane are names for the same fibre.
Spandex vs LYCRA: what is the difference?
LYCRA spandex is a trademarked fibre; spandex is the generic name. We source LYCRA spandex when you specify it.
Is spandex the same as polyester?
No. They are different fibres. For a polyester and spandex blend, state the percentage of each.
What GSM should I specify for spandex fabric?
Specify a finished GSM and tolerance for the chosen construction and garment. Keep the greige catalogue weight separate from the finished-weight requirement.
What is the trade price of stretch fabric?
We quote against the finished fabric or garment requirement. A quality reference, quantity and target price form the costing brief.
Can you supply stretch fabric without a garment order?
Yes, we supply stretch fabric on its own, by the metre.
