and innerwear, to your brief.

Modal garments and fabric, with the weight, hand, stretch and care requirements to put on the tech pack.

Surajmal Shobhachand supplies modal nightwear, loungewear and innerwear, and modal fabric from India. We source TENCEL™ Modal and LYCRA fibres when the brief specifies them.

Modal is a cellulose fibre with high wet modulus, meaning resistance to stretching while wet.

Common questions about modal

Do you supply modal fabric on its own?

Yes. We supply modal fabric by the metre to garment makers.

What is 100% modal fabric?

It means the fibre content is entirely modal.

How do we choose between modal fabric and cotton?

Compare finished qualities against the required hand and care result. For alternatives, see viscose and lyocell.

What is the difference between modal and micromodal?

For Lenzing fibres, Modal Micro is a named 1.0 dtex quality and Modal Micro Air is 0.8 dtex. Specify the fibre grade and fineness when ordering micromodal.

How do we specify modal fabric shrinkage?

Set the allowed length and width change after the intended washing and drying. Check the selected finished quality under those conditions.

What do you need to quote a modal fabric price?

We need a reference quality or fabric specification, with the metres required and a target price. Include the finish and any named fibre requirement.
