Surajmal Shobhachand develops dresses in viscose, cotton, linen and man-made cellulosics, woven and knit. Drape is the whole product, so fabric is approved on a made-up sample rather than on a swatch, where it tells you nothing about how a skirt will hang.

Viscose and modal move on the cutting table and again at the first wash. Relaxation, cutting method and hem finish are settled during development so length holds through bulk instead of drifting between sizes.

Which fabrics do you make dresses in?
Viscose, cotton, linen and linen blends, modal and lyocell, in both woven and knit constructions. Fabric is developed to the approved quality for the drape the style needs.
How do you control length and fit across a size range?
The block is graded and confirmed on fit samples, then bulk is measured against the sealed standard. Fabric relaxation is allowed for before cutting, which is what keeps length consistent across sizes.
Can you print or embroider on a dress programme?
Yes. All-over prints, placement prints, embroidery, schiffli and cutwork, each approved on a physical sample before bulk so hand and drape are not changed unintentionally.
Do you work from our patterns or develop them?
Either. Surajmal Shobhachand works from your graded specs, or draws the patterns from a tech-pack, reference garment or sketch.
What lead times should we expect on a dress programme?
First samples typically within 4 to 10 days of an agreed brief. Bulk usually ships 35 to 90 days after sample approval, depending on construction, fabric and quantity.
