How to identify single jersey
Technical face
Vertical columns of loops, called wales, give the face its appearance.

Technical back
Rows of crowns give the reverse its horizontal texture.
Compare other constructions: rib, interlock, piqué and French terry.

Common questions about single jersey
Can I order single jersey fabric without garments?
Yes. Fabric-only orders are supplied by the metre.
Are the catalogue GSMs a T-shirt weight range?
No. Each weight belongs to the named quality. Jersey comes in different weights for different uses; yarn and fibre also affect its drape.
Is single jersey the same as cotton?
No. Jersey names the knit construction; cotton names the fibre. Specify the fibre content separately.
Can single jersey be made with Lycra?
Yes. We source LYCRA when you specify it. Include the required percentage in the brief; see elastane jersey.
What is the difference between single and double jersey?
Single jersey uses one set of needles. Double knits link two fabrics during knitting, making a heavier cloth. Rib is one double-knit construction.
What is the price of single jersey fabric?
We quote against your fabric specification and quantity. For a price enquiry, give the composition, finished GSM, usable width, finish and colour, with the metres required.
