Surajmal Shobhachand began in Kolkata in 1968, when Devi Prasad Mundra started producing fabric on the company's own looms.
Exports became the engine. Fabrics went abroad first, then yarns, then finished garments. His sons, Rajeev and Sanjeev Mundra, built garment production across Tirupur and Dhaka, opened operations in Dubai, and grew the export book with European retailers, names like Zara, Bershka, and Desigual among them.
Today the textile business is vertically integrated. Our own design and sampling teams carry a style from first sketch to sealed standard, and we make 15 million garments a year across three production hubs.
What began on a single loom is now a group of businesses, reaching beyond textiles into real estate, specialised manufacturing, own labels, and more.
