Rib body
Rib forms the body of a dress. Alternating face and back wales give it stretch.

Rib trim
Rib finishes the neck, wrist or waist of a garment in another fabric. A stretch yarn can help it recover its shape.
For a trim match, specify the body-fabric reference and the finished opening dimensions.
A garment with matching rib trims
Send the garment and body-fabric references, trim location and colour reference. Add the finished trim dimensions and garment quantity for a quote.
Single jersey or rib
Single jersey
Single jersey is used for T-shirts and underwear. It curls when cut across the width.

Rib
Rib can have a similar GSM to single jersey. It tends to be more stable and curl less.
See single jersey for its fabric specifications.

Common questions about rib
What is cotton rib fabric made of?
Cotton rib can include a stretch yarn. Specify each fibre and its percentage in the brief.
What GSM should I choose for rib fabric?
Choose the finished GSM against a garment reference and give a tolerance. Fabric weight depends on yarn linear density, loop length, shrinkage, knit structure and finishing.
What do you need to quote rib fabric?
For a fabric quote, we need the quality reference, fibre percentages and metres required. Include a colour reference and target price; for garments, add the style and quantities by size.
Can I order rib fabric on its own?
Yes. Include the rib reference and metres required in a fabric enquiry.
