Canvas vs denim
Canvas is plain-woven; denim is a warp-faced twill.
Cotton canvas
The weft passes alternately over and under the warp, giving both sides the same structure.

Denim
The warp yarns are usually dyed cotton, while the weft is ecru.
See denim specifications or compare plain and twill weaves.

Common questions about canvas
What GSM canvas should we specify for a tote or jacket?
Agree the GSM against a swatch for the tote or jacket, with the intended finish.
Can we buy canvas fabric without ordering bags?
Yes. We sell canvas fabric on its own, by the metre.
Can you print or embroider on canvas totes?
Yes, with screen printing or embroidery. Plain weave gives an even surface for printing or stitching a design.
Is canvas the same as denim?
No. Use the denim brief for a denim enquiry.
How long does a canvas sample take?
First canvas samples take 4 to 10 days from an agreed brief.
