- Give finished width, height and gusset in centimetres, with a tolerance for each.
- Composition
- List each fibre and its percentage.
- Construction, GSM and finish
- Specify the weave, weight in g/m² and fabric finish.
- Handles and attachment
- Give the handle material, length and width. Include an attachment reference and its acceptance requirements.
- Artwork
- Give the print size and position, with the artwork file. Specify direct printing or a stitched panel; see screen printing.
- Inside finish
- State the lining or lamination requirement, with any pocket or closure.
- Intended contents and load
- Describe what the bag will carry and the required load.
- Finished checks
- Set the handle-attachment and loaded-use protocol, with the acceptance criteria for the assembled bag.
- Care and packing
- State the care requirement and packing format. Include label artwork for a private-label order.

Common questions about jute
Can we order jute fabric without finished bags?
Yes. We supply fabric separately by the metre for cutting and making to your own design.
Can jute be used for clothing?
Yes, in specified jute/cotton constructions, including single jersey knitted from blended yarn. We source the fabric to the garment brief.
What does jute/cotton fabric mean?
It can mean fibres mixed in a blended yarn, or separate yarns woven as a union cloth. A union construction can use cotton in the warp and jute in the weft. Specify the yarn arrangement as well as the fibre percentages.
Is jute hessian also called burlap?
Yes. Jute hessian is also known as burlap. Specify the fibre content when using that name in a fabric enquiry.
What GSM should we specify for a jute shopper?
Agree the fabric weight and construction for your bag. GSM describes fabric mass per unit area in grams per square metre.
How is the price of jute fabric or bags quoted?
Fabric is quoted from the cloth specification and metres required. Finished totes and shoppers are quoted from the completed bag brief and quantity per style.
How should a jute tote be cleaned?
Follow the care instructions agreed for the assembled bag. Set the cleaning requirement before sampling, with its cloth finish, print, inside finish and handles specified.
