- Garment
- Name the style and attach its drawing or reference.
- Fibre content
- Name each fibre and give its percentage. Include the bamboo cellulose source in the fabric brief.
- Construction
- Specify the knit construction and yarn count, or send a fabric to match.
- Finished weight
- Give the GSM and tolerance after finishing. Use the GSM calculator to convert to oz/yd².
- Stretch and recovery
- Set the required stretch and recovery, with the test method and acceptance limits.
- Colour and finish
- Send the colour reference and describe the finish and hand.
- Care and tests
- State the wash and drying conditions. Set limits for shrinkage, pilling and appearance after laundering.

Common questions about bamboo
What does “100% bamboo fabric” mean?
The description needs a finished fibre name. Ask whether the 100% refers to direct bamboo fibre, bamboo viscose or bamboo lyocell.
What is the difference between bamboo viscose and bamboo lyocell?
Viscose regenerates cellulose in a coagulation bath. Lyocell dissolves cellulose directly in an NMMO–water solvent system. See lyocell for more on that process.
Should we choose bamboo viscose or cotton jersey?
Choose against a reference garment. Compare the hand and stretch of the actual swatches, then assess the garment samples after washing. See cotton for cotton yarn and construction choices.

How long does a bamboo viscose garment sample take?
