A smooth surface gives the garment an even finish.
Peach-skin
Peach-skin gives the cloth a fine, soft surface with reduced lustre.
State the surface finish separately from the fabric construction and weight.
Specifying lyocell on a tech pack
- Garment
- Name the style and include its drawing or measurements.
- Fibre content
- Give each fibre and its percentage, including any cotton in the blend. See cotton for cotton specifications.
- Required fibre brand
- Name TENCEL™ Lyocell if required.
- Construction and yarn count
- Specify the weave or knit and the yarn count system. Use the yarn count converter for conversions. For a denim construction, include the denim fabric specification.
- Finished GSM
- State the finished weight in g/m² and its tolerance. Use the GSM calculator to calculate weight from a measured swatch.
- Colour and surface reference
- Include the colour and surface references for the required finish. Check opacity on the blouse fabric.
- Care and performance
- Set the care procedure and the permitted dimensional change. Give acceptance levels for colourfastness and appearance after laundering.
- Quantities and target price
- Give the quantity by style and colour, with the target price.

Common questions about lyocell
Is TENCEL the same as lyocell?
No. TENCEL™ is Lenzing AG’s trademark and names both Lyocell and Modal fibres. Specify the fibre name and its percentage, not just “100% TENCEL”. We source TENCEL™ Lyocell when you specify it.
How do we specify shrinkage for lyocell fabric?
Set a limit for the finished quality and check it under the specified care procedure. Use the fabric’s length and width results for approval.
Do you sell lyocell fabric separately?
Yes. We sell lyocell fabric separately, by the metre, to garment makers.
How long does a lyocell sample take?
First lyocell samples take 4 to 10 days from an agreed brief. Bulk ships from 35 days after sample approval.
