Request a similar style→Weave, yarn ply and thread density
In a 2 × 1 Oxford weave, two separate warp ends pass over and under single weft picks together. Most Oxfords use finer warp yarns with a heavier weft.
The yarn notation 2/40s means two 40s yarns plied together. Yarn ply and the grouping of ends in the weave are separate specifications.
Thread density is stated as ends and picks per inch. Compare Oxford with plain-weave poplin or diagonal twill.

Common questions about oxford
Do you sell Oxford fabric separately from shirts?
Yes, by the metre.
What is the price per metre of Oxford fabric?
We quote per metre against the specified quality, width, finish and quantity. Send the fabric reference, finished weight and metres required with the width and finish for a quotation.
What is the difference between Oxford fabric and polyester?
Oxford names the fabric construction; polyester is a synthetic fibre. Other Oxford qualities, including synthetic fabrics, are sourced to your brief.
Can 420D or 600D be converted to Oxford GSM?
No. Denier is yarn mass in grams per 9,000 metres; fabric weight also depends on the number of yarns per inch. Specify yarn denier and finished GSM separately.
How do we specify waterproof Oxford fabric?
State the coating and the waterproof test target. For PU-coated nylon Oxford, confirm the target with a lab report. AATCC TM127 tests water resistance under hydrostatic pressure.[8][9]
