Article 16(3) provides: “The labelling or marking shall be provided in the official language or languages of the Member State on the territory of which the textile products are made available to the consumer, unless the Member State concerned provides otherwise.” Use Hungarian wording for the fibre declaration. Article 18 provides: “Market surveillance authorities shall carry out checks on the conformity of the fibre composition of textile products with the supplied information related to the fibre composition of those products in accordance with this Regulation.” Article 19(1) provides: “For the purpose of determining the fibre composition of textile products, the checks referred to in Article 18 shall be carried out in accordance with the methods set out in Annex VIII or with the harmonised standards to be introduced in that Annex.” In May 2026, Hungary's National Authority for Trade and Consumer Protection announced a textile-market inspection programme that includes laboratory testing of samples and market-surveillance proceedings where results do not match label information. Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011 requires market-surveillance checks of the composition against the supplied information and sets the methods for those checks. Regulation (EU) 1007/2011 requires the name and percentage by weight of all constituent fibres, in descending order, using only the fibre names the Regulation's own annex sets out. A fibre accounting for up to 5% of the total weight, or fibres collectively accounting for up to 15%, may instead be shown as “other fibres” with their combined percentage, but only where they cannot easily be stated at the time of manufacture. A trade name or marketing term cannot stand in for the generic name. Where a textile product has two or more components with different fibre contents, state each component's fibre content, except for components that are not main linings and represent less than 30% of the product's total weight. Confirm construction before the label copy is frozen. ## How should care instructions and country-of-origin wording be handled? Confirm whether your programme needs care content, origin wording, both, or neither before label artwork is released. Regulation (EU) 1007/2011 governs fibre composition and the indication of non-textile parts of animal origin. We prepare care content from the approved care treatment, while taking account of any product-safety instructions and safety information required for the product. Where your artwork carries an origin statement, ensure that it is not false or deceptive as to geographical or commercial origin and is not likely to cause the average consumer to take a transactional decision they would not otherwise take, as set out in Directive 2005/29/EC. Article 16(3) of Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011 provides that the labelling or marking must be in the official language or languages of the Member State where the product is made available to consumers, unless that Member State provides otherwise. For Hungary, use Hungarian wording for the fibre declaration. A fibre declaration printed only in English, or only in the language of a different EU destination the same collection ships to, does not provide that wording on its own. Regulation (EU) 1007/2011 requires market-surveillance authorities to check that a textile product's fibre composition conforms to the supplied composition information. Those checks must use the methods in Annex VIII or harmonised standards introduced into that Annex. A Hungary order is therefore a case for retaining the fibre certificate and any test data that support the declared composition. We prepare manufacturer, importer and EU-based responsible-person details from the legal-entity information you approve for the order. Under Regulation (EU) 2023/988, the manufacturer must provide its name or trade mark and postal and electronic address on the product, packaging or an accompanying document. A product covered by that Regulation also needs an EU-established responsible economic operator, whose name or trade mark and contact details must be indicated on the product, packaging, parcel or accompanying document. For children's styles, assess cords and drawstrings as part of the product-safety assessment. Regulation (EU) 2023/988 requires economic operators to place or make available only safe products, and the assessment expressly considers the product's presentation and use by vulnerable consumers, including children. Keep the construction review, measurement record and approved sample sign-off with the product file. ## Where does an English-only EU label fall short in Hungary? An apparel label built to satisfy Regulation (EU) 1007/2011 in English should be reviewed for the Article 16 language rule before it is made available to consumers in Hungary. Use Hungarian wording for the fibre declaration. Confirm the fibre composition and its Hungarian-language wording together, since a late fabric substitution can change both the percentages on the label and the composition information subject to market-surveillance checks. Mark the Hungarian fibre declaration as a separate approval line, rather than assuming the translation belongs to the master artwork. If the same style has a different shell, lining, trim or blend by colour, give each version a separate material reference. The merchandiser confirms the destination split before labels are ordered; the technical team compares copy to the approved bill of materials; and quality control checks the sewn label in the first production lot. Any fabric substitution or percentage change returns the Hungary artwork to approval before further labels are printed. Before bulk, we check that the size ticket, sewn-in label, hangtag and e-commerce size chart use the same values for every style and colourway. ## The Hungary label verdict A Hungary-bound label needs the EU fibre declaration in Hungarian, subject to the language provision in Article 16, with the declared composition supported by the production record. Add care instructions, size information and origin wording in line with the approved programme, artwork and applicable product-safety and consumer-information duties.
